He was predeceased by : his father Willis Albert Frances; his close friend Madeline Hicks; and his brother Tony Rutherford. He is survived by : his daughter Renee Rutherford; his stepchildren, Amy Hicks (John) and Arvin "Hot Rod" Hicks; his siblings, Joycelyn Tate, David Rutherford and Larry Boyce; and his grandchildren, Ashley Boykin (B. J.), Jesse Hicks (Kylie), Cameron Hicks-Kim, Sebastian Hicks-Kim and Griffin Hicks-Kim. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
