He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Clay Lawrence III and Mae Smith Lawrence; his wife Opal Pauline Wright Lawrence; and his siblings, Graham Lawrence, Davis Lawrence, Dorcey Lawrence, Flossie Snow, Lois Brown, Helen Outlaw and Juanita Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Ernest "Ernie" Grey Lawrence, Jr. (Sarah), Gary Lawrence (Kathy), Darlene Wegner (Doug) and Tim Lawrence (Janet); his grandchildren, William Lawrence, Melissa Jackson (Tommy), Benjamin Lawrence, Katie Box (CJ), Deirdre Wegner, John Case (Ashlee), Jane Nance (Scott) and Sean McLean (Mitzi); his great grandchildren, Aerith Box, Elias Case, Adlee Case, Ezrah Case, Ella Mackenzie Nance, George McLean and Grady Douglas Nance; and his sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Bowman and Betty Adams. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church (818 Prison Camp Rd, Dobson, NC 27017). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
