He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Shelton Barnes; his sons, Charles Monroe Barnes (Suzy) and Dennis Ray Barnes; his grandchildren, Alexander Monroe Barnes and Sarah Olivia Barnes; his stepgrandchildren, Skyler Rose Portnoy, Aiden Matthew Portnoy and Jonathan Ryan Portnoy; his sister Linda Barnes Chilton; and his close friends, Ronald Wood, Steve Tilley, Robert Nichols, Larry Atkinson and Bobby ShumateAA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Temple Baptist Church (3615 Rockford St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
