As we bid James Ray farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For James Ray is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Lee and Shirley Johnson Sawyers; and his brother Tony Gray Sawyers. He is survived by: his son James Dean Sawyers; his brother Robert Lee Sawyers (Joanne); his nieces, Brandi Sawyers Long (Mike) and Christy Sawyers; his nephew Jason Sawyers; and his sister-in-law Diane Sawyers.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Bryant's Chapel Church Cemetery (1474 Radar Rd, Ararat, NC 27007).
