He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Wilson and Lorraine Midkiff Patterson; his son James Craig "Jimmy" Patterson; his brother Dennis Patterson; and his nephew Gray Beverly.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Goard Patterson; his sister Donna; his siblings-in-law, Roger Keck, Betty Patterson, Faye Goard, Jack Goad, Jean Goard Marion and Jasper Marion; his nieces, Misty Mauldin (Bethany Shepherd) and Kim Patterson Patterson (Terri Beverly); his niece-in-law Cindy Beverly; his close friends, Paul "Bones" and Peggy Hull; Todd Beverly (Kim), Kevin Beverly (Becky), Mike Marion (Laura), Stan Marion (Julie), Dr. Brad Goad (Traci) and John Good.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church, 1854 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27041.
