He is survived by : his wife Rita Venable Atkins; his sons, Terry Atkins (Summer) and Travis Atkins; his grandsons, Tyler Jones and Dylan Hiatt; his sons, Triston Atkins and Carley Rae Atkins; his sister Shirley Dollarhite; his brother-in-law Gilmer; his brothers, Daryl Atkins (Betty) and Larry Atkins; and his sister-in-law Debbie Atkins.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (114 Bullin Farm Ln, Ararat, NC 27007).
