She was predeceased by : her parents, James S. Edwards and Ida Virginia Nester Edwards; her husband Rayford "Frank" Childress; and her brother Joseph B. Edwards. She is survived by : her children, Jill C. Tolbert (Greg) and Ed Childress (Harriett); her grandchildren, Jamye Tilley (Travis), Josh Childress (Kimberly), Brandi Felts (Nathan), Courtney Tolbert and Tate Childress; and her sister-in-law Rita Edwards. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 105 N. Crutchfield St., Unit 2, Dobson, NC 27017.
