He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Hurd Shelton; his parents, Ramey Shelton and Clennie Rakes Shelton; his siblings, Roy Shelton, Paul Shelton, Charles Shelton, Russell Shelton, Don Shelton, Buddy Shelton, Frances Faye Shelton, Annie Belton and Ruth Etta Mills; and his grandson Cameron Shelton.
He is survived by: his children, Barry Shelton (Kay) of Huntersville, NC, Sally Shelton Hagood (Ben) of Anderson and Sandra Shelton Singleton (Richard) of Central; his sisters, Jean Arrington, Dorothy Baynes, Betty Hall and Parabelle Hiatt; and his grandchildren, Cory Ingram (Kristen), Allison Fickling (Chris), Jessica Glymph (Dale), Lee Shelton (Kate), Benjamin Hagood (Ashton) and Mary Caroline Redden (Joshua). He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
