It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Roy Sidney Smith of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Cana, Virginia, who passed away on April 18, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Culbert Erastus and Susan Etta Willard Smith; his wife Mildred Virginia King; his daughter Mary Annette Bryant; his son-in-law Phillip Broughton; his granddaughter Catherine Elizabeth Collins; and his siblings, Clinton Smith, Lanford Smith, Marie Stevens, Mary Haynes, Algie Hale, Virginia Rippey, Eunice Johnson and Alma Helen Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Sandra (Jim Collins), Tessa (Christopher Perrien), McCrae (Caroline Smith), David Smith of Asheville and Linda Albahae of Mount Airy; his grandchildren, Justin, Meghan Collins, Joel, Katie Collins, Megan Smith, Marin Smith, David Albahae, Alex Perrien, Owen Perrien, Tyler Prufer, Stefan Prufer, Griffin and Meredith Prufer; his great grandchildren, Barrett, Sophia, Liam Collins, William, London Smith, Penelope and Lincoln Wilson; his son-in-law Doug Bryant (Kim); his sister Ruth Easter; and his siblings-in-law, Brenda and Tommy Craft. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
