He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Mitchem and Ida May Mitchem; his wife Hilda Franklin Mitchem; his siblings, Clyde, Sally, Bill, Bob and Frank; his daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Isenhouer; and his grandsons, Dewayne Richard and Jimmy Dale Isenhouer.
He is survived by: his children, Toni-Kay Chapman of Gastonia, NC, Lisa Bradshaw (Tommy) of Kings Mountain, NC, Sherry Richard Carver (Red) of Springwood, NC, Misty Welch Davis (Brente) of York, SC and Franklin Eugene Mitchem. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
