She was predeceased by: her parents, David Oates and Anna Coley Mitchem; and her siblings, Joe, David (Bull), Jimmy, Gaytonia, Nadine and Bobby.

She is survived by: her husband Mike Tessenar; her children, Michael Tessenar (Amanda) and Summer McQueen (Michael); her grandchildren, Piper and Callen; her siblings, Darlene Holloman (Garry) and Danny Mitchem; and her close friend Billie Stowe Cagle. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the children's department at Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly.
