He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Mauney and Lona Mauney; his son Mark Mauney; his granddaughter Hannah Abernathy; and his siblings, Ruby Waters and Leroy Mauney.

He is survived by: his wife Ann Mauney; his daughters, Terri Mauney, Melissa Abernathy (Steve) and Michelle Daniel (Andy); and his brothers, Keith Mauney (Gloria) and Donnie Mauney (Faye). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home (375 Woodlawn Ave, Mt Holly, NC 28120). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at the Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
