He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ivey and Elizabeth Dixon Godwin; and his sisters, Esther Raynor, Ernestine King, Elizabeth Burch and Betty Jean Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Neil Godwin; his children, Debby Godwin (Wade King) of Mt. Dora, Fla., Bill Godwin of Mount Olive and Marsha Godwin of Raleigh; his stepson Mark Raynor (Wimberly) of Mount Olive; his niece Kathy Martin Rikard of Goldsboro; his close friend Larry Cashwell of Calypso; his grandchildren, Mathew Godwin of Mount Olive, Heather G. Collier (Michael) of Mount Olive, Katie Jackson of Wilmington, Joshua Jackson of Wilmington, Kris King of Fla, Kady King of Fla, Bobby Liles and Will Raynor of Mount Olive; and his great grandchildren, Dean Grady, Makenzie Collier, Allie Liles and Jackson Liles.
