He was predeceased by: his wife Ruby Lee Jordan Kornegay; and his parents, Morris D. Kornegay and Elizabeth "Tom" Kornegay. He is survived by: his daughters, Cindy K. (Rouse Ivey) and Diane K. (Allen Best); his grandchildren, John Daniel Ivey (Rebekah H. Ivey), Abbie C. Ivey, Steven Best of Raleigh and Karen B. Painter (Marlan Painter) of Mount Olive; his great grandchildren, Cresson of Mount Olive, Johnson of Mount Olive, Charlotte Ivey of Mount Olive, Matthew of Mount Olive, Nora Williams of Mount Olive and Olivia Painter of Mount Olive; and his siblings, Maxine K. Butts of Mount Olive, Linda K. Herring of Mount Olive, Sue K. Satcher of Clayton and Robert Kornegay. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
