He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie S. Miller and Flora Herring Miller; and his siblings, Lewis Miller, Tommy Miller, Dave Miller, John Oliver Miller (Rose) of Winston-Salem, John William Miller, Edward Miller, Peggy M. Creech, Kay M. Mason, Jewell M. White and Patricia M. Howard.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Summerlin Holmes Miller; his children, Chris Holmes (Jennifer) of Kenansville, Brandon Holmes (Jessica) of PIkeville, Todd Miller of Winston-Salem and Ashley Miller of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Wes Holmes, Mackenzie Holmes, Madison Strickland (Hunter), Brayden Holmes, Allie Turner and Macie Turner; his siblings, Jackie Miller Stroud of Albertson and Art Miller of Pink Hill; his mother-in-law Nancy E. Summerlin of Kenansville; and his siblings-in-law, Mary S. Grady (Milton) of Kenansville, Diane Pate (Ronnie) of Magnolia, Betsy Miller of Kinston, Dot Byrd of Mount Olive and Ivey White of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.

Stricken with Alzheimer's Demetia, she and her family lovingly cared for him until the last moment.
