She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Carlton Ingram and Bessie Lee Howell Ingram; her husband Thomas Dillon Thornton; her daughter Iris Lynette Thornton; her siblings, Jean Mills, Dale Lewis, Gale Ingram and Carroll Ingram; and her nephew Randy Mills.
She is survived by: her children, Dillon Thornton (Becky) of Raleigh and Lee Ann Best (Johnnie) of Grantham; her grandchildren, D. R. Thornton (Teri), Lisa Reedy (Channing), Brian Best (Josie), Danny Thornton (Patricia), Kevin Best (Michele), Stephanie Cooper (Will) and George Thornton (Kaitlyn); and her siblings-in-law, Nancy Ingram and Allen Lewis. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
