It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ellen Best of Mount Olive, North Carolina, who passed away on May 21, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Lee Thornton and Rubia Keel Thornton; her husband Dewey Bradford "Rooster" Best; and her sisters, Dolly Smith and Dora King.
She is survived by: her children, Dewey Bradford Best Jr. and Kimberly Best; her grandchildren, Meredith Best, Marina Bass (Phillip), Sarah Game and Jacob Best; her great grandchildren, Easton Richards and Paisley Bass; and her siblings, Keith Thornton (Denise), Gene Thornton, Kenneth Thornton (Diane), Betty Williams, Faye McCullen (M. F.), Ann Cox and Billie Turlington (Jackie).
