She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Lou Artis and Emmett Walls; her husband Ross Ammons; and her son Shawn Powell. She is survived by: her daughter Michelle Powell Jones; her son-in-law Henry of Charlotte, NC; her sisters, Barbara Washington of Charlotte, NC and Jeanette Colfield of Warsaw, NC; her daughter Toni of Charlotte, NC; and her grandchildren, Kiante (Morgan), Ayshaun, Jalen, Najee, Jasavion, Ishmael and Korrine. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service (1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
