It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Gilbert Porter Jr. of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, John Gilbert is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilbert Porter, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Gatling Porter. He is survived by: his son Dunyasha Porter (Jacqueline) of Ahoskie, NC; and his sister Mable Porter of New York, NY. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hunter's Funeral Home (123 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Dr N, Ahoskie, NC 27910-7612). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (230 US-158 BUS, Murfreesboro, NC 27855).
