It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sarah Virginia Wood of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, who passed away on June 13, 2025, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Sarah Virginia departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Sarah Virginia. Though Sarah Virginia may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her mother Matilda Bishop; and her husband James "Gus" Wood. She is survived by: her children, Ann Wood Washington (Robbin) of Chicago, IL, Phyllis Wood Davis (Eddie) of Como, NC, Mildred Trina Wood Jones of Chicago, IL, Freda Wood Savage of Stafford, VA, Terri Wood of Upper Marlboro, MD, Bernard Wood of Como, NC and Christopher Wood of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hunter's Funeral Home- Murfreesboro (212 N 3rd St, Murfreesboro, NC 27855). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (230 US-158 BUS, Murfreesboro, NC 27855).
