He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Finnegan and Kathleen Courter Finnegan; and his siblings, Robert, Tom Finnegan, Maureen and Kathy.

He is survived by: his children, Mike Finnegan (Annette) of Murphy, NC, David Finnegan of Andrews, NC, Donald Finnegan (Michelle) of Brick, NJ and Debbie Mann (Rob) of Vernon, NJ; his brother John Finnegan; his grandchildren, Ryan Finnegan, Noah Finnegan, Josiah Finnegan, Cory Finnegan, Casey Finnegan, Bailey Mann, Dylan Mann, Jacob Mann, Michael Finnegan and Alyssa Finnegan; his great grandchildren, Charli Brooks, Ryan Finnegan, Falon Finnegan and Carter Finnegan; his grandchildren, Valerie Long, Christopher Morrow and Erica White; and his great grandchildren, Dallas Long, Fynlee Long, Lilly Morrow, Murphy Long and Lincoln White.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Mountain View Church (68 Fairfax Dr, Murphy, NC 28906).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Edward John Finnegan to the Renewed Hope Ministries, 150 Penny Lane, Murphy, NC 28906.

Joan Finnegan wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Finnegan Family, I was so sad to learn of Eddy's passing. I met him when I was dating his Brother Tom. I was 15 years old at the time. I also lived w/his Wife Lerlene for a while in West Hartford when Tom went into the Marine Corps. Eddy was always a good friend to me and I was so proud of all he had gone through and remained so honorable. I'm happy he is in Heaven w/Tom,Bobby,Maureen & Kathy.”
