It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Ray Davenport of Murphy, North Carolina, born in Epworth, Georgia, who passed away on October 14, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Davenport and Edna Davenport; his grandson Samuel Houston Parker; his siblings, Milton (Ann Arp Davenport), Clifford (Catherine Ensley Davenport), Earl (Sue Brawley Davenport), Harold Davenport and Viola; his brother-in-law Horace "Bud" Raper; and his nieces, Becky Davenport Hawkins and Gail Davenport Mulkey.

He is survived by: his sister-in-law Irene (late Jerry Mathis); his wife Louise Raper Davenport; his children, Faye Long, Diane Parker (Jeff) and David Davenport (April) of Murphy; his grandchildren, Amanda Garrett (Joe), Harleigh Parker, Christian Davenport, Wyatt Davenport and Isabella Davenport; his great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Janes and Hadley Garrett; and his brother Winston Davenport. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws; and a host of friends.
