He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Proffitt and Helen Fitch Proffitt; and his siblings, Harold, Chuck Proffitt and Carol Proffitt.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Byrne Proffitt; his son Daniel Coleman; his brother Dick Proffitt; and his grandchildren, Abby Coleman and Angelica Coleman. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Ranger United Methodist Church (156 Ranger Rd, Murphy, NC 28906).
