He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Penland and Mattie Lou Penland; his sister Joann (Charles Thompson); and his brother-in-law Hardy Caldwell. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Hensley Penland; his sons, Bob Penland (Gina) of Murphy and Brad Penland of Murphy; his sister Bobbie Caldwell of Hendersonville; his grandchildren, Shanna Garrett (Robert), Logan Penland (Whitney), Jessica Ashe (Rydale), Madison Wallis (Clay) and Bella Penland; and his great grandchildren, Nolan Penland, Lawson, Fletcher Ashe, Joselyn, Novalee Garrett, Hudson and Hensley Wallis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM at the Ivie Funeral Home (194 Peachtree St, Murphy, NC 28906). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
