It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martha Chastain Hatchett of Murphy, North Carolina, who passed away on December 19, 2022, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bryan Chastain and Jessie Chastain of Murphy; her husband Jerry Hatchett; her sister Darlene Kinard; her brother-in-law Jack Lovingood; her brother Jimmy Chastain; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Holcomb and Eva Nell Hughes.
She is survived by: her significant other Ashley; her daughter Susan Bicknell; her granddaughter Ashley Bicknell (Dylan McClain); her sister-in-law Alice Chastain; and her great grandchild Sadie Wood. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in memory to Murphy Elementary School library for the purchase of new books for students.
