He was predeceased by: his father Ernest Clyde Ammerman; and his siblings, Clyde Ammerman and Joyce Ammerman Jackson. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hooper Ammerman; his children, Angela Frey of Glen Carbon, Ill, Lisa Ammerman of Vancouver, Pamela Smith of Crawford Trail, Georgia and Kevin Ammerman of Mableton; and his stepchildren, Matthew Hedrick, Israel Hedrick, Sherri Hedrick and Becky Hedrick. He is also survived by six grandchildren, ten step grandchildren and several great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
