It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Abernethy (Nashville, North Carolina), who passed away on December 15, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Warren Cash and Leona Joyner Cash; and her siblings, Joseph Warren Cash Jr., Louise Cash, Marjorie Cash Smith, Shirley M. Cash and Patricia Ann Cash Marsh.
She is survived by: her husband Alfred Wallace Abernethy; her sister Myrtle Cash Sanders (Charles); her sister-in-law Phyllis A. Hardee (Ted); her nephews, Joseph Sanders (Emmie), Fred Sanders, Chris McGilvary and Lewis Hardee III (Vanessa); her niece Amy McGilvary; her great-nephew Lewis Hardee IV; her great-niece Claire Hardee; and her pets, Sandy, Taffy and Lady.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jean's memory to Nashville Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Nashville, NC 27856.
