He was predeceased by : his father Donald Spain; and his grandparents, Edgar, Mary Spain, Henry and Patty Stallings.

He is survived by : his mother Myra Stallings Spain of Rocky Mount; his son Justin Matthews of Spring Hope; his siblings, Ricky Peele (Kim) of Wilson and Tanya Peele Hamm (Martin) of Southport; and his pet Mandy.
