It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Catherine Arthur Atkinson of New Bern, North Carolina, who passed away on July 27, 2024, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Franklin; her parents, Jarvis Arthur and Florence Arthur; and her brothers, Robert Arthur and Jarvis Arthur, Jr..

She is survived by: her children, Gail Atkinson Biesecker (Tim) of Roanoke Rapids, Etta Atkinson Lucas (Mike) of Trent Woods and Jan Atkinson Haddock of Trent Woods; her grandchildren, Josh Biesecker of Williamston, Kelly Jones (Lucas) of Wilmington, Lindsey Lucas (Kyle) of Greenville, Hank Haddock (Aubrey) of Trent Woods and Frank Haddock of Trent Woods; her great grandchildren, Taylor Jones and Brody Jones; and her friend Dianne Ezell (Dave) of New Bern.

“In loving memory of Catherine Arthur Atkinson, Katie was the first person to welcome me to Temple Church in 2008. After returning in subsequent weeks, she greeted me, referring to me by name each time. That's how we became buds--her sincere welcoming spirit. I enjoyed my visits and prayer times with Katie. She always had something funny to say which resulted in deep belly laughs. My last visit was on her 91st birthday earlier this year. Sharing in your sorrow, with love and friendship.”
