He is survived by: his sister Karen Dunham; his children, Lisa Reason (Len Reason), Sam Bennett (Brandi Bennett) and Brian Bennett (Tina Bennett); and his grandchildren, Joshua Reason, Mary Reason, Samantha Bennett and McKenzie Bennett.

Viewing was held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Cotten Funeral Home (2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28560). A funeral service was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Croatan Presbyterian Church (6375 US-70, New Bern, NC 28560). The military honors was held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Greenleaf Memorial Park (900 River Rd, New Bern, NC 28562).
