He is survived by: his parents, James Purifoy and Lillian Purifoy; his sisters, Pamela Purifoy Gaskins (Robert) and Connie Purifoy Brame (Eddie Jr.); his nieces and nephews, Misty Jones (Kyle), Cathy Valerian (Leo), Jason Gaskins (Joanna), Megan Brame, Stephen Sciere, Tiffany and Isabelle Brame; and his pets, Luke and Milo. He is also survived by ten great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Antioch FWB Church (760 Antioch Rd, New Bern, NC 28560). A celebration of life was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Michael requested that memorial donations be made to the Emerald Isle Beach Patrol Social Club, an organization and mission that reflected his love for the beach and his desire to care for the place that brought him so much happiness.
