She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Edgar Helbig and Virginia Cummings Helbig; her husband George Ray Johnson, Jr.; her sister Virginia Mae Collins; and her brother-in-law Jack Collins of Clearwater, Florida..
She is survived by: her children, George Ray Johnson, III of New Bern, NC and Virginia Killinger (Keith) of Beaufort, NC; her granddaughter Blair Kelly (Marshall); and her great grandchild Elizabeth Grey of Denver, NC. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
