It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marva Ray Johnson (New Bern, North Carolina), who passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Washington Ellison and Odessa Joyner Ellison. She is survived by: her daughter Delores Slanton (Christopher); her granddaughter Sideeka Johnson of Sacramento, CA; her great grandchild Amaya Tootle of Sacramento, CA; and her sister Shirley Hinds (Berthrum).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (405 Cedar St, Beaufort, NC 28516). A burial will be held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at the Oceanview Cemetery.
