He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Bowen and Sudie Toler Bowen; and his brother George Cameron Bowen (Jean) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.. He is survived by: his wife Bertie Voliva Bowen; his children, William R. Bowen, Jr. of New Bern and Susan Riggs (Dale) of Pollocksville; and his grandchildren, Melissa Powell of Wilmington, Lora Young of New Bern, Jonathan Riggs (Meagan) of Carthage, Faith Vazquez (Bradley) of New Bern, Hope Brown (Jonathan) of New Bern, Cameron Bowen (Kelsey) of Olathe, Kansas, Kayla Bucy (Ian) of Suwanee, Georgia, Megan Coberly (Joey) of Pensacola, Florida., Mariah Waldvogel (Ben) of Pensacola, Florida. and Kelsey Bowen of Pensacola, Florida.. He is also survived by 22 great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church (1821 Rhem Ave, New Bern, NC 28560). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, New Bern.
