We are sad to announce that, on June 1, 2024, at the age of 77, Baxter Stirling of Newland, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Andrew Stirling and Doris Jenette Stirling. He is survived by: his wife Jean Nelson Stirling; his children, Andrew Stirling Jr. (Brian) of Dallas, TX, Tommy Roberts (Brooke) of Holly Springs, NC, Mary Mac Hess of St. Petersburg, FL and Karrick Losinger (Matt) of Kingsland, GA; and his grandchildren, Jane, Calvin Stirling, Alli Brooke Hess, Lily and James Losinger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Avery County Habitat for Humanity.

“Baxter and I roomed together at LSU Graduate School of Banking. We kept in touch every month or two until he passed. He was smart and he was a fun guy to be around. We visited in New Orleans and enjoyed the French Quarter later in life to relive our many visits there during our school years. He loved the Cajun cooking and especially liked it HOT.
