He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Sturgill and Mildred Cox Sturgill; and his son Joseph Earl Sturgill (Little Joe). He is survived by: his wife Alcie Pritchard Sturgill; his son Charlie Sturgill (Meghan) of Newland, NC; his brothers, John Sturgill (Ramona) of Linville, NC, Tom Sturgill (Linda) of Winston-Salem, NC and Little; his grandchildren, Seveta, Alosha, Sawyer and Skylar Eastman; his sister-in-law Mariam Owens (Very) of Newland, NC; Robbin Trice of Newland, NC.
