He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack Buchanan and Willie Nora Hughes Buchanan; and his siblings, Roger, Steve, Greg Buchanan and Janice Buchanan.
He is survived by: his wife Aleta Buchanan of Newland; his son Terry Neil Buchanan of Morganton; his siblings, Janet Miller of Marion, Pam Borders (Ken) of Spruce Pine, NC and Mark Buchanan (Priscilla) of Hickory; and his sister-in-law Sharon Johnson of Newland. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
