He is survived by: his wife Vera Lee Murray; his children, Willie Murray Jr., Ira Spicer of Jacksonville, Lena Murrell (Apostle Ezekiel) of Beaufort and Esther Lightfoot of Texas; his siblings, Helen Robinson of Newport, Glenny Murray of Beaufort, Carolene Shepard (James) of Beaufort and Robert Murray (Geraldine) of Knightdale; his grandchildren, Andrena Purvis (Robert), Teshia Hackle, Chavonda Yelverton (Jason), Torisha Dozier, Jacqui Isom (Eddie), Jeremy Lightfoot, Jessica Murray and Lakesia Dozier Slade (Willie); his aunts, Lillie Mae Murrell and Gertrude Murray; and his siblings-in-law, Isaac Loftin, Doris Williams, Dorothy Shepherd (John), Ada Smith and Louise Jefferson (Arnold). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In the early 1960’s I first encountered Elder Murray when I was a child at the UPHC in James City when he and his church family would drive up from North River and Bogue Sound to worship with us. I did not realize it at the time but he was less than 10 years my senior but he seemed so much more mature. The Forbes family, separated by miles and time, will always be connected to the Murray family.”
