He was predeceased by: his parents, John Slater and Jeanne Slater; and his sister Lynn Owens. He is survived by: his siblings, Phyllis Dunkerson (David) of Indianapolis, IN, Howard Owens of Newport, Brenda Pettry (Tom) of West Virgina, Virginia Brown of Havelock and Victor Slater (Cheryl) of Newport; his niece Amber Robinson; and his great-nephew Lucas Stone. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Harlowe United Methodist Church (4261 NC-101, Newport, NC 28570). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at the Harlowe Methodist Church Cemetery (4261 NC-101, Newport, NC 28570).
