He is survived by: his wife Tammy Mercer of Newport; his children, Danita Mercer Jacobs (Tommy) of Newport, Tabatha Mercer Garner (Patrick) of Newport, Gladys Mercer Pittman (Dennis) of Newport, Jessica Schrader Moore (Christopher) of Morehead City, Tanya Strayhorn of Morehead City and Charles Williford Mercer Jr. (Vickie) of Newport; his grandchildren, Blake Mercer (Shelby), Jordon Moore, Adam Pittman, Brett Jacobs, Dylan Swigart, Tyler O'neal, Hailey Strayhorn, Garrett Jacobs, Rusty Mercer, Brittney Moore, Riley Strayhorn, Hunter Bell and Clayton Guthrie; and his siblings, Raae Mercer of Hollywood, MD and Mitzi Jarrell of Portsmouth, VA. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
