It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Jon Covert of Newport, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 75, on December 4, 2025. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Ray and Velma Marie Franklin Covert of North East, PA. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy (Dot) of Newport; his son Benjamin Arendell (Kristen); his grandchildren, Payton Arendell, Reynolds Bowman, Virginia Loraine and Marthamae Davis of Beaufort, SC; his siblings, Marion Covert Nicastro of Raleigh, Richard Kimbel of Ripley, NY and Russel Franklin (Christine) of Newport; his friend Linda Stewart Bales; and his godson Jonas Stewart of Carlisle, PA. He is also survived by cousins, nephews and nieces.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (215 Ann St, Beaufort, NC 28516). A burial will be held on Saturday, December 20th 2025 at the Bayview Cemetery (407 N 20th St, Morehead City, NC 28557).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Stephen Stiller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
