It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Matthew Gilson of Newport, North Carolina, born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, who passed away on February 12, 2024, at the age of 52, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lawrence Gilson and Sandra Baker; his wife D. Ann; his stepfather J. T. Baker; his children, Jennifer Nicole Hansen, James Michael Hansen and Daniel Allan Hansen; his siblings, Regina Nelson (Daryl) of New Bern, NC and James Baker of Maryland; and his nephew Rick Nelson. He was also cherished by three grandsons; one granddaughter.
