He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Jernigan and Mertice Johnson Jernigan; his former wife Shirley Barefoot Jernigan; and his sisters, Geraldine Blackmon and Adell West.
He is survived by: his wife Shelby Lee Jernigan; his sons, Jason W. Jernigan (Darlene) and Chad M. Jernigan; his granddaughter Billie Jo Ryals; his great grandchildren, Jourdan Campbell, Kobe Campbell and Calvin Adams; his stepchildren, Kristie Gilbert (Ricky) and Mark McGee (Heather); his stepgranddaughters, Hannah and Leah Gilbert; and his sister Evelyn Norris.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Inc. (301 W Main St, Benson, NC 27504). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hood's Grove Baptist Church (677 Hood Grove Church Rd, Newton Grove, NC 28366).
