He was predeceased by: his parents, Laudis Thornton and Mary Gladys Jernigan Thornton. He is survived by: his stepchildren, Charles Brogdon, Josephine Quackenbos (late Mark Reed), Charlene Lawhorn (Robert), Sarah Westmoreland, Crystal Brogdon (Rick Goodale) and Jessica Moyer; his sister Francis Johnson; and his nephews, A. J. and Alisson (Anna). He is also survived by 19 step grandchildren (1 deceased) and 27 step great grandchildren.
