It is with sadness that the passing of Barbara Dellinger in Newton, North Carolina is shared. Barbara, born on November 12, 1934, passed away on November 2, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Barbara will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Barbara by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Barbara is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Barbara’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oren Clinton Austin and Ruth Prescott Austin; and her grandmother Julia King Prescott. She is survived by: her stepfather James Edmonson; her children, Beth Pernell (Billy) of Hickory and Burt Dellinger (Patty) of Hickory; and her grandchildren, Becky Dellinger (José María Perales), Logan Dellinger of Hickory and L. B. Pernell of St. Augustine, Florida. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lakeview Baptist Church (4080 N Center St, Hickory, NC 28601). A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
