He was predeceased by: his parents, Moses Monroe Samples and Ethel Florence Boyd Samples; his siblings, Robert Samples, Lawton Samples, Margaret Braswell, Gretel Boyd, Sybil Rayburn and Maggie Lassiter; Catherine Samples.

He is survived by: his son Steven Darwin Samples. He is also survived by his extended family and dear friends.
