Evelyn Whitener Phillips Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 1, 2025, at the age of 95, Evelyn Whitener Phillips (Newton, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Whitener and Kathryn Whitener; her husband Fred Phillips; her brothers, Robert, Larry and Wayne; her sons, Michael Poteat and Tony Poteat; and her son-in-law Dick Williams.
She is survived by: her children, Teresa Williams, Kathy Phillips (Michael) and Freddie Phillips (Mandy); and her daughters-in-law, Tina Poteat and Gail Poteat. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oxford Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 at 3:15 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice and Palliative Care and Oxford Baptist Church.
