We bid farewell to Geraldine McCarter of Newton, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 23, 2025 at the age of 84. Geraldine touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Weaver Byers and Esther Woodruff Byers; her husband John Wesley McCarter; her siblings, Elizabeth Byers, James Byers and Kenneth Byers; and her daughter-in-law Sandra Gilbert.
She is survived by: her sons, Gerald Steven Gilbert (David Lambert) of Wilkesboro and Dr. John Christian McCarter (Jennifer) of Idaho; her grandchildren, Owen McCarter, Sloane McCarter, Gwyneth McCarter, Desmond McCarter, Julian Gilbert (Alivia), Meghan Eller (Jacob), Heather Gilbert and Shane Timmons (Ashley); her great grandchildren, Fisher Gilbert, Jaiden Eller, Georgia Timmons and Ophelia Timmons; her siblings, Peggy Hutchins, Gencie Bowlin (Harold), Hurley Byers (Gail) and Rex Byers (Pam); and her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Byers and Shirley Byers.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659).
