He was predeceased by: his wife Faye Sigmon Ritch; and his mother Ada Ritch Poole. He is survived by: his daughters, Kelly Conner (Doug) and Karen Krollig (Tony); his grandchildren, Matthew Conner (Maria), Jordan Conner, Ashley Armstrong (Joe), Hayley Johnson, Malcolm Krollig and Thomas Krollig; his great grandchildren, Ezra, Adelyn, Graham, August and Tilly; and his pet Sebastian. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Caring Hospice or Catawba County Animal Services.
