He was predeceased by: his parents, Bascom Clayton Hughes and Clara Hicks Hughes; and his brother Mike Hughes. He is survived by: his son Joshua Bumgarner; his siblings, James Hughes, Debra Walker (Dean), Mary Hughes (Donnie) and Neese Aiken; and his grandchildren, Jaiden Bumgarner, Caleb Kirby and Daelon Workman.
Visitation was held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church (5382 Unity Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602). A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
